The buzz on the New Orleans Gnostic Vodoun list is that the "expanded edition" of the VGW is not so expanded -- pretty much an exact reprint.  None of the missing diagrams are included and the "expansion" seems to consist of two pages of preface.

So, if you couldn't afford the out of print version, this is worth getting, but if you're looking for new material, you may be disappointed.

Dec. 3rd, 2006 @ 10:43 pm [ voodoo drums samples? ]
Hello all... I know it's not really the right place to ask, but... I'm a musician, and I'm doing a remix for another band.
Their song is called "Voodoo Nation", and I'd like to add some loops of real voodoo drums.
Do you know where/if I can find them online?

Thanx!

I would introduce myself, but I scarcely have anything to say as of yet.

I thank you for allowing me to take part in this community, firstly. Secondly, I apologise in advance if I am quiet for a while, or if I ask too many questions.

I thank you for your understanding in this delicate time for myself.

Hi. I'm 29 and a history teacher in a New York City public school. I live in NYC. I'm an initiate of Afro-Brazilian Candomble and made santo last July. My orixas are Logunede and Oxum (Oshun). Living in NYC I have acess to both the Lucumi/Santeria and Haitian Vodoun communities and have attended both tambors and parties in both religions. I am somewhat drawn to the Dominican form of Vodoun called the 21 Divisions or Senso. In 2003 I visited the Crescent City of New Orleans and got to see some the hoodoo and voodoo of the city. Still they charge 10 dollars for a bottle of florida water when I can get it for 2 dollars or less up here :)

Due to the work with my Ancestors, my other spiritual paths are Southern Italian Catholic folk magic, Strega, and Roman Paganism. I think this is a great community and look foward to discussions.

My name is Karma, and I'm a livejournal addict.  I co-mod or maintain or assist at this group, on an MSN Tarot group, on an MSN Thelemic group for local folks, and on a Yahoo group for curanderismo.  That right there probably says a lot about my interests and current areas of activity.

Lifetime study and interest in folklore, mythology, and folk magicks.
Rootworker.
Serviteur of the loa in a syncretic, "New World" mode.
Thelemite.
Martial artist (Shaolin, so roots in Chan Buddhism).
Background in ceremonial magick and Western hermeticism, though I started out working with herb and rootlore and folkways in my youth and have increasingly spent more time over the years returning to those, er, roots lol -- getting my hands dirty and doing more scrying, energy work, work with the loa, and dreamwork and less time wearing a robe and chanting things in Greek -- though I still do some of that too :-)
Currently working with synods of other autocephalous Bishops in the Southeast on some of the Bertiaux materials, particularly mapping and actively experimenting with the points chauds system of empowerments.

Ok, I'll do an intro too.

I'm Scarlet Magdalene and this is one of my LJs. I'm 28, live in the Boston area, and am a member of the Golden Dawn, OTO, and Order of Mary Magdala. I'm a Neoplatonic Orphic worshipper of Greek gods, my way of life is Thelema, and I practice ceremonial magick. Among the gods and beings I am drawn are Apollo, Dionysos, Hermes, Persephone, Oya, Sophia, Inanna, and Mary Magdalene.

I'm a mystic at heart and hence are drawn to particular types of mystical practice. I recently created mysticism_study for people who are mystics and/or wish to learn more about mysticism and its various types.

I look forward to discussions in this community. :)
